About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Executive / Supervisor to join a reputed Audit & Accounting firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance assignments, supporting clients with tax-related matters, handling IRD correspondence and assessments, and supervising junior staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Prepare and review tax computations, tax returns, reconciliations and related documentation.
- Ensure timely compliance with Inland Revenue Department (IRD) requirements and statutory tax deadlines.
- Handle tax audits, assessments, notices and correspondence with the IRD.
- Provide tax advisory and compliance support to clients.
- Respond to and resolve client tax-related queries.
- Keep up to date with changes to Sri Lankan Tax Laws, regulations and statutory requirements.
- Review financial information and identify relevant tax implications and compliance requirements.
Supervision & Client Management
- Supervise junior staff and review their tax-related work for accuracy and quality.
- Allocate and monitor tax assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members.
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain required financial and tax information.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and provide timely assistance on tax matters.
- Assist with internal reviews and ensure the quality of all tax assignments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Taxation, preferably within an Audit or Accounting Firm.
- Part/full qualification in CA, ACCA, CIMA, or a related professional qualification will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan Tax Laws and Regulations, including:
- Income Tax
- VAT
- APIT
- Other applicable statutory requirements
- Strong understanding of tax compliance procedures and IRD requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software.
- Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client-handling skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Previous experience supervising or reviewing junior staff will be an advantage.
